www.tugendhat.euThe Ossuary, also known as the Bone Chamber, located under the Church of St. James, is a unique and special place where the bones of about 50,000 people can be found, arranged in artistic formations. The walls are covered with human skulls and bones, creating a fascinating yet eerie atmosphere. This place not only symbolizes facing death, but also reminds us of the cruel passage of time. The Brno Ossuary offers a unique, thought-provoking experience to all those who dare to face the depths of human existence. Architectural purity, interconnection of interior and exterior, timeless technical equipment, noble and exotic materials and, above all, a high level of preservation – these are the main attributes that led to Villa Tugendhat being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. Villa Tugendhat was built in 1929–1930 for Greta and Fritz Tugendhat to a design by the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Its history is at least as fascinating as its cultural significance.
