Day 1. (17th May, 2024 - Friday) Meeting and champagne reception in the Lotz room of Budapest-Keleti railway station. Travel through Transdanubia and Croatia to Bosnia. Additional boarding options in Dombóvár and Pécs. Through interactive on-board programs, we can learn about the history and interesting facts of the affected railway lines, settlements, landscapes and our destination. The train has a dining car and a bar car. Arrival in Sarajevo in the early evening, from where we continue our journey by bus (~2 hours) to Mokra Gora. Accommodation in a cozy accommodation converted from the former railway station. Dinner together.
2. nap (18th May, 2024 - Saturday) After breakfast, let’s travel from Mokra Gora to Sargan Vitasi on a nostalgia train pulled by a steam locomotive. During the trip, we make several photo stops, so it is possible to take really rare shots. The duration of the program is approx. 3 hours. Free program in the afternoon and an optional walk to the museum railway with a gauge of 600 mm. Dinner individually.
3. nap (19th May, 2024 - Sunday) After breakfast, we will travel by diesel train from Mokra Gora to Visegrád in Bosnia, where we will see the bridge over the Drina, built in 1571 by Buda Pasha Megmed Szokoli, which has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2007. This bridge was the subject of Ivo Andric’s work, "Bridge on the Drina", for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. We will have lunch in Andricgrad. The idea of building the district can be linked to film director Emir Kusturica, who initiated its construction of memory of Ivo Andris. The district was built on the basis of what was described in the novel Bridge on the Drina and contains all the architectural styles of the former Yugoslavia. Return trip to Mokra Gora, free program, then dinner together in the hotel’s private room. 4. nap (20th May, 2024 - Monday) After breakfast, we travel by bus to Sarajevo, then return home with the Continental Classic Express. Community programs, a dining car and a bar car are available on the train. Arrival in Budapest in the evening. | |
